The couriers are now finally collecting after a bit of initial hassle. There’s now only a few bits left to go. Only two of the original pieces didn’t get a bid, the rear brake cylinder guard and the coolant bottle & hoses. Now to look at the engine, to see exactly what happened to it when it failed on me.
Some couriers you just know are going to cause problems. I guess you get what you pay for. Booked to pick up on Friday, no show. Rebooked to pick up on Monday, so they turn up on Saturday when we’re not in. Didn’t think to call! Texted the driver to ask if still coming on Monday, and told that he’ll be back on Tuesday. So I reminded him that I’d booked and paid for a Monday delivery. Was then told that he’d try to get someone out to me then. Not sure if this is the website problem or just bad drivers? Had no problems at all with the DHL guys, but this other outfit are cowboys.
Just spent the last 3 hours packing the next big pile of bike parts to be shipped off. One lesson I’ve learnt from this whole thing is to be a bit more realistic about the postage charges. I’m definitely going to be out of pocket with those charges. You forget how much packaging actually weighs. In a lot of cases it has pushed the weight into the next weight category. Oh well, you live and learn. I’m also spending a lot of time trawling through the different courier services and the post office charges. It’s a bit like mobile phone tariffs, all companies charge differently, well the same goes for couriers. Some go on weight only, some on size and weight, and some are fixed price. So it’s really hard to compare. Anyway, all done, couriers selected for the next set of parcels. eBay and PayPal are certainly going to get their money’s worth from this little lot.
The next five items have now been sold from eBay. All parcelled up and posted off. It seems really strange sending your bike parts to the four corners of the world. I’ve got one parcel here that’s going to Georgia USA, rear seat and rear cowling. I can just picture it razzing around the US. Bizzare!!! Good to know that it’s still getting used. Getting slightly tearful now that the parts are starting to disappear as the shed is getting emptier. The next bunch of items are finishing om eBay tonight, so that’ll be more packing to do tomorrow – once they’re paid for of course 
First item sold from bike without having to post it on eBay. It’s just a speedo cable but it’s something. Felt quite sad packing it for shipping. But I’m sure it’s going to a good home. Thanks Jim Just hoping that everything goes.
